Chennai (CSK) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) after 13 years at Chepauk

Nehal Wadhera and Surya Kumar Yadav then formed a 55-run partnership for the fourth wicket, trying to stabilize Mumbai’s innings. However, Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Yadav for 26 runs in 22 balls while Tristan Stubbs added 20 runs to build a 54-runs partnership with Wadhera for the fifth wicket. Wadhera was the highest scorer for Mumbai, making 64 off 51 balls, including eight fours and a six, before being dismissed by Mathisha Pathirana in the 18th over.

CSK’s bowling attack was disciplined and effective, with Mathisha Pathirana (3/15), Tushar Deshpande (2/26), and Deepak Chahar (2/18) leading the way. In response, CSK got off to a blistering start, with openers Ruturaj Gaikwad (30) and Devon Conway (44) putting on a 46-run partnership in just four overs. Gaikwad played a quick innings, hitting four fours and two sixes, but was dismissed by Piyush Chawla (2/25). Ajinkya Rahane (21) also fell to Chawla, but Conway scored 44 runs in 42 balls, including four fours, before being dismissed by Stubbs in 17th over.

Shivam Dube (26) and skipper MS Dhoni (2) took CSK to victory with 15 balls to spare. Dube, who hit three sixes in his 18-ball knock, was the star of the show for CSK, while Dhoni played a captain’s knock to take his team over the line. For Mumbai, Chawla took two wickets, while Stubbs and Madhwal took one wicket each.

CSK’s victory was a sweet one, as it came after a gap of 13 years at their home ground in Chepauk in IPL. Chennai reached at second position with the win while Mumbai Indians at sixth in points table.
